Webinar Event Topic: False Claims Act & Health Care

Trainer: Rachel Rose

Time: 2:00 pm EST

Session Description:

For at least the past decade, the health care sector has topped the total percentage of recoveries in False Claims Act (FCA) cases. The largest percentage of monies recovered are returned to the Federal Fisc. As one of HHS-OIG’s five (5) major fraud, waste and abuse laws, the FCA is one law that needs to be appreciated and incorporated into an entity’s compliance programs in order to mitigate risk and avoid a qui tam lawsuit. The purpose of this webinar is to explain the FCA nuances, appreciate how other health care laws, such as the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute and Controlled Substances Act relate to FCA liability and discuss recent cases. Finally, the webinar will wrap up with risk mitigation and compliance suggestions.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the distinct features of the FCA

2. Appreciate how violations of other laws can lead to FCA liability through case law examples

3. Learn risk mitigation suggestions and effective compliance tips
